Wonderful ocean even in winter

Hello, anglers!

Greeting from Susaki, Kochi Prefecture in Japan!

Hope everyone had good fishing time in last weekend.

Since we had good weather here in Susaki,  many anglers dispatched from a port to catch their targetted fishes.

Therefore, there are many information to be updated but first article for this week is stared with our Captain Okkamu, an expert of offshore fishing.

レンコダイ サバ アジ

Lots of mackerel and some yellowback seabream!

サバ カイワリ

Mackerel and.... expensive fish, Whitefin Trevally!

レンコダイ アジ メジナ イサキ

There are many kinds in this cold box! Chicken grant, yellowback seabream, whitefin trevally, smallscale blackfish, horse mackerel. Expecting gorgeous dinner!

This time, captain and his customers went to the deepest spot ever, 180m, 600ft deep.

I used to try 100m, 333ft deep but it was very hard work to reel in fish every time I drop my rig.

So, I can' imagine how hard to reel in fish from 180m deep.

This is from our captain Okkamu.

As we have been informing since last year, Captain Okkamu is constantly catching fishes. If you come to Japan first time ever and would like to try fishing without being lonely with empty cold box, we highly recommend him to go fishing with.

Giant Horse Mackerel Fever in Susaki, Japan!

 Hello, everyone!

It is getting cold in Northern Hemisphere and hot in Southern Hemisphere.

How is your catch recently ?

If there is any chance to visit Japan and you want to try to fish in Japan, why don't you try to catch "Giant Horse Mackerel" ?

There is no such species name but regular size of horse mackerel in Japan in offshore is about 30cm, 1ft.

However, here in Susaki, there are horse mackerel way bigger than we think.

マアジ

1 more centimeter to reach 50cm, 20in!!!

This blew our knowledge about the size of horse mackerel !!

I have never seen such big mackerel like this.

Each horse mackerel is worth about 1000 JPY which is about 9 USD and the biggest will be over 2000 JPY, 20 USD for sure in market price.

What a result!

This information have been provided from Yoshino Marina (Only in Japanese).

If you would like to try to fish here in Susaki, please contact us here in Susaki Tourism Fishing Center for free interpretor for fishing.

Happy New Year 2019!!

Happy New Year to you, everyone!!

It's 2019! How fast did the year 2018 pass through for you?

In 2019, we would like to push us forward to distribute our service to anglers outside of Japan and would like more world anglers to challenge the fishes in Susaki.

To do that, though it's still tentative, our staffs are currently planning the fishing competition enjoyable not only for veteran anglers but also for beginners such as children.

Why don't you perform your fishing skills here in Susaki to admire Japanese anglers?  It would be more fun and great chance to get known with Japanese anglers and share the fishing knowledge with them.

Also, another great news is that we will start uploading our fishing videos in Youtube from April. If uploading videos are ready, we would like to annouce here.

That is it for the first article of Year 2019.

We hope that all of you have more chances to encounter great fishes in 2019!!

Have a nice fishing year, everyone!!
