Giga Horse Mackerel, Tera Horse Mackerel Season has Come!

Hello, everyone!!

It has been a while to update this website!

Hope everyone is ok and safe from Covid-19.

The reason why I, a web eidtor of this website, couldn't update for so long was that I was sick for 3 weeks.

I had been having a mild fever between 36.8~37.1C  with absolutely no headache, cough, stomach ache,

taste & odor disorders and any Covid-19-related symptoms.

During staying home, I couldn't have taken any proper medical checkups including PCR checkup because my symptom had been

considered as not related to the symptoms of Covid-19.

Though it was a mild fever, it was such long and painful fight without knowing what I am fighting against.

I hadn't been diagnozed as a patient of covid-19 after all, but there are still so many unknown things about this virus.

I might or might not have gotten a corona virus.

So, PLEASE, PLEASE EVERYONE, take care of yourself, and your family, firends .

Ok, back to track.

Horse Mackerel Master, Captain Okkamu catches horse mackerel all the year but now it's the season of Giant Horse Mackerel.

Horse mackerel usually caught in Susaki is about 40cm, 16in as max, but now max size is over 50cm, 20in, and some of them are even 60cm, 2ft!

50cm big Horse Mackerel is dealt about 15USD in market. Horse mackerel is quite popular in Japan.

Ok, let'see how many of them were caught!

アジアジ レンコダイ サバ

These are about 40cm with yellowback seabream and red marbled rockfish.

アジ レンコダイ イトヨリレンコダイ アジ

Golden theadfin bream is one of big surprises during mackerel fishing.

レンコダイ シイラ アジ

Dolphin fish were everywhere in the sea of Susaki now.

They can grow nearly 1m here.

As one extra information, since his knowledge, skills, expereince to catch horse mackerel,

Captain Okkamu was interviewed by fishing magazine!

We Updated Top Page Photo!

Hello, everyone!

How have you been?

Here in Susaki, we have been having nice sunny days recently though I cannot go fishing due to work.

Hopefully, everyone of you is having a blast.

Well, I think some of you have already noticed that we changed the top page photo to fishes and anglers having a blast in the sea of Susaki.

Those photos can be changable. So, photos will be changed by the seasons and my feeling of a day.

Susaki Tourism Fishing Center will keep renewing our website from now little by little.

So, please keep eye on our website for updates!

Tight Lines!

Mackerel Festival

Good morning, everyone in the world!

How was your weekend?

Hope you all got nice weekend with great fishing.

Me, went to fishing with 5 other people and not just caught fish, but not even one bite either!!

Everyone else caught 5~7 Red Snappers, size is around 40~70cm (16in~22in). They even got line break with extremely big unknown fish. Yeah, I was really meserable at that time.

But at the same time, I consider that this is also one of attractivenesses of fishing.

Anyway, that is from me and this is what boat fishing in Susaki caught last weekend.

White Trevalley! Tasty fish cooked in any ways.

Good size Golden Threadfin Bream!

レンコダイ サバ アジ

Mackerel and Yellowback Seabream

And, finally horse mackerel, our main target.

On Saturday, they started fishing  at  85m deep (283ft) and fishing sonar was reflecting bunch of fish.

So, Captain Okkamu was pretty happy but bunch of fish was actually the school of Mackerel.

So, they changed spots again and again but couldn't catch horse makerel constantly.

Again, that is also fishing.

If you are interested in fishing in Susaki, please remember that we have free interpreters in English and French. Ask us for free interpreters!

Captain Okkamu above is mainly fishing with raw or live bait but we, Susaki Tourism Fishing Center, provide lure fishing service as well.

Fishing style is called "Tairaba" which is effective for Red Snappers and other kinds of snappers. We highly recommend Tairaba style fishing service.

Detail is here.

As well as lure fishing service, we also provide the service that carries anglers to offshore inlets for Smallscale Blackfish and Striped Beakfish.

It is highly recommend to aim those fishes in winter . Detail is here.

We will see you at next information update and hopefully at Susaki for fishing in future!

Fish on!!

Lure and Tairaba Fishing in Susaki

Hello, anglers from the edge of the land to the other side of edge of the land.

How's condition of your fishing spot? It is the time to change the fishing environment dramatically.

Flowers start blooming in the mountain ranges.

Fish in deep water comes to shallow as water gets warmer.

And, anglers stayed deep inside of bed come out to the field.

Let's take a look at what anglers caught in Susaki in April 3rd.

マダイ ワラサ イトヨリ

Kingfish, Red Snappers, Red-marbled rockfish, Crimson Seabream, Horse mackerel, Golden-thread fin bream.

エソ

Aaaand, giant Lizard Fish like torpedo are also caught.

In April 3rd, Captain Okkamu and his customers started fishing with jigging lures at 85m deep.

Conditon seemed to be good at first glance, but what they caught were only small Red Snappers and king fish. Captain Okkamu thought this is not good. So, from the afternoon, they switched from jigging to Tairaba and from 85 m deep to 60m deep.

Then, they started catching Red Snappers all the sudden. And, this day ended up to one nice day.

This is from our Captain Okkamu as  mentioned above.

As we have been informing since last year, Captain Okkamu is constantly catching fishes. If you come to Japan first time ever and would like to try fishing without being lonely with empty cold box, we highly recommend him to go fishing with.
